STAT MEDIANS/BREEDING OVERVIEW

STATus SYMBOLS ~ ~ ~ (see below for report on Ultrastat effects)
median stat figures for all animals on foopets. due to length of entries for each group, we are segmenting cats, pokey dogs, and foo dogs into their own separate sections, clickable at right. we will endeavor here to provide an overview of tendencies noted and any additional information on stats and breeding that does not fall under the group headings. these stat medians are for your breeding reference, and we will continuously update them as the numbers are modified by population changes, breeding, and the introduction of new pets to the site. we also hope with your help to post breeding frequencies so that all animals born are wanted and values are retained. the Comments in this section is now active so we can try to answer any questions you may have.

in general you want the parents' stats to average (add each pair of stats, plus the median - you can find them in the individual Breed Stat sections - and divide by 3) 3 points or so above the median, for each trait. i conducted a couple of experiments on my personal, including one where i bred two well-balanced 2/5 persians and got 4/5 kittens. because of the way the FooBreeding programming is designed, if an exceptionally high stat is not balanced out in the average, it can backfire and result in puppies/kittens with stats in that line all over the place.

ULTRASTAT EFFECTS :
many of you may have noticed previously well-statted pets showing a sudden drop due to the impact of the new "Ultrastats" - absurdly high stat pets presented toward the end of 2010 to encourage more $300 adopts. We have been watching breeding results for these animals, and so far their offspring, due to the nature of the stat selection algorithms, have been coming in considerably below their parents' level. As breedings progress - and in the wake of the half-price LLs they are at an all-time high - we can look to stats coming back into line with previous levels. (we hope)
As soon as we get a free moment, we will run the current medians, and show them below the original figures (rather than in place of them as previously) for comparison.
